  1. West, Bruce, and Laing's debut, Why Dontcha, is very good but compared to the bands they were in previously, Cream and Mountain respectively, where it lacks is the songs. "The Doctor" is the only track that is on par with Cream and Mountain and the band's riveting performance, particularly Jack Bruce's bass work, is really sick/5().

  4. The band featured Leslie West and Corky Laing (ex-Mountain) and Jack Bruce (ex-Cream). The band's live shows were sell-outs, whilst 'Why Dontcha' reached #26 on the Billboard charts. Sadly, personal problems caused the band to break up in Jack Bruce died in , but Leslie West /5().
  5. May 13,  · Why Dontcha, an Album by West, Bruce & Laing. Released in October on Columbia (catalog no. KC ; Vinyl LP). Genres: Blues Rock, Hard Rock/5(15).
  6. West, Bruce & Laing's Why Dontcha has aged gracefully as an authentic signature of what these artists were doing, but it lacks the staying power of Blind Faith, the fault being the choice of material. There is no "Theme from an Imaginary Western" here, there is no "Sea of Joy," just a relentless hard rock assault best exemplified by the track.
  7. Why Dontcha is the first studio album by power trio West, Bruce and Laing.. The album features "The Doctor", which received heavy FM radio airplay upon the album's release and became a signature song in live performance for the band.
  8. Jun 28,  · I've actually been able to get a good quad and stereo rip of the Why Dontcha album, and the Esoteric CD is most certainly the stereo mix (another big difference are the vocals in Third Degree.) Whatever Turns You On is what is confusing me.
  9. The band’s live shows were sell-outs, whilst ‘Why Dontcha’ reached No on the Billboard charts; Sadly, personal problems caused the band to break up in ; Jack Bruce died in , but Leslie West is still recording and gigging. Corky Laing has been recording and touring constantly in .
